Giving Guided Tours of the Park

Ryan M. Kannett's most enjoyable part of his job is giving guided tours to park visitors. By leading the tours, Kannett has the opportunity to share his passion for the environment with guests. Since Ryan Michael Kannett grew up in the city, he understands what it is like to connect with nature for the first time, which helps him relate to many new park visitors. To further educate guests, during the tour, Kannett shows videos to help explain some of the history of the park as well as answer any questions from park guests.

Ready to Act at a Moment's Notice

In addition to his guest liaison duties, in some rare occasions Ryan M. Kannett has also had to stand ready to protect and even rescue park visitors. In one situation, a guest had accidentally fallen from a viewing platform and was unconscious. Ryan Michael Kannett immediately responded to the situation. After contacting emergency assistance, he went to the guest's aid, and he also helped emergency personnel in the rescue effort.

Whether preserving the park, educating guests or keeping visitors safe, Ryan Michael Kannett enjoys every aspect of his role as a park ranger -- and every day is a new adventure.
